Non-governmental organization Maavillane joins three South-Estonian farms, which all are active in the field of sheep husbandry and the processing of wool. Our cattles have great specimens for breeding for those raising sheep for meat as well for wool, because our main breeds are Dorper and Arles merino. We make yarn from wool and felt in our own felt factory, which also can be used to make comfy items such as diaper panties or saddle blankets.

In Maavillane, we know very well how to raise sheep and process wool. We are happy to share our knowledge in training days. You can order a sheep shearing service and consultations on cattle health. By constantly learning ourselves and bringing new good breeding specimens into our cattle, we keep raising the bar day after day.

We aim to co-operate with Latvian sheep farms and wool producers to bring some life into the regional small enterprise and promote environmentally friendly use of land.

Our surroundings at Karula National Park characterize the best what we’ve achieved – historical heritage cultural landscapes are open and clean of young trees, because our sheep graze around here.
